Kentech Software Support - Giving You the Answers to be Successful

One thing that we pride ourselves on is supplying our end users with answers to their questions in a timely fashion. That "timely" fashion was fully illustrated this week when we received a request from an end user who was struggling to create a G code program utilizing our KipwareT® application.

Here is the timeline of events ... and this is typical of support issues sent to our office :

Roughly around 9:00 a.m. :
The customer explained during the initial phone conversation that they had not had an opportunity to become as familiar with KipwareT® as they would have liked due to the fact that the shop was so busy. But now they had a rush job and needed to create their program and get the job running ASAP.

We talked on the phone a bit but it became obvious that trying to explain a part print without pictures was not going to get the results we both desired ... so we asked them to fax us a print. The best approach was for us to create a custom training video outlining how the program would be created using KipwareT® and post it to our video training webpage.

This approach would not only help them but add to our library of training videos so others could benefit from it as well.

Roughly 9:30 a.m. :
We received the drawing and began creation of the video presentation.

Roughly about 10:15 a.m. :
We completed the video and posted it to our video training webpage. We emailed our customer the link where they could view the video. SUCCESS !!

Total Time from Problem Report to Complete Resolution
including a 10 minute full training video: 75 minutes !!!

How and Why so fast?

  1. We are devoted to our clients ... we want our software to make you successful like we know it can.
  2. This is our living ... we are not a "home shop", not "part time software developers", not "creating software for fun or to see if we can do it" ... this is our job, our business, how we support ourselves and our families.
  3. If you have a problem ... our software may have a problem ... and we want it fixed ... NOW !!!!
We encourage our users to report ANY and ALL issues through the Support portal at www.KentechInc.com. Sometimes the fix is a simple email response ... which you should receive within 30 minutes of reporting during normal business hours and within 12 hours if off-time ... or it might be that we also need to create a custom, training video to explain the solution. Worse case ... for us ... you may have found a bug ... in which case WE WILL NORMALLY CREATE A FIX AND ISSUE AN UPGRADE within 12 hours of the report.

In any event ... we will be there for you 100% of the time and for 100% of the journey.

Real World Machining Cycletime Estimating & Why It Matters

The phrase ... the guess ... "That should take us about 2 minutes to machine." ... is costing you  money ... plain and simple.

I would say that most of our clients who request a Webex demonstration of our KipwareCYC® software answer the question "So how do you estimate your cycletime currently?" in a similar fashion. Inevitably most pass it on to the machinist on the floor or the production manager or the manufacturing engineer ... and they provide the machining time estimate. And when we push a little harder ... it turns out that most usually use the scientific form of GUESSTIMATING to arrive at their times based on their 30+ years or so of machining.

The fact of the matter is that even with all that machining background ... their cycletime estimate is still a guesstimate ... and cost estimates produced from that will be incorrect. No matter what you are using for cost estimating ... if the cycletime estimate is incorrect it could lead to winning work ... but work that just loses money.

The other side of the coin is the "feature recognition" software that claim they can produce a cycletime estimate based on a solid model. So now we go from a free guess to a very high priced software application ... but the result is probably the same ... inaccurate times. Why? That high priced app probably can figure a machining cycletime estimate based on that 3D model ... but the key is will the machining process it determines be the same process that will take place on your shop floor? Will the speeds and feeds it calculates be the same speeds and feeds that will be produced on your shop floor? Probably not ... and that means the time it calculated is no better than a guesstimate.

The key to accurate cycletime estimating is simple ... make certain that the machine specs, cutting process and parameters used accurately reflect what will happen on your shop floor. Period.

Our KipwareCYC® is real world cycletime estimating software that was developed in the real world over years of providing time estimates for machine justification and time estimates for high volume production. KipwareCYC® will provide you with consistency ... and most important accuracy ... in your cycletime estimating process. The real world design and features of KipwareCYC® will insure that machine specs and cutting parameters utilized in the estimate will accurately reflect what happens on your shop floor. In fact ... the design insures that the more you use KipwareCYC® ... the more accurate it becomes !!!

KipwarePA® - Advanced G Code Wizard Released

Kentech Inc. has released a new and updated version of our KipwarePA® - G Code Programming Assistant application.

Sporting a brand new, state-of-the-art, Microsoft .NET4 interface ... the new KiwparePA® makes creating G code programs a simple point-and-click affair. No need to remember ... or even know ... those canned cycle commands ... KipwarePA® will gather your inputs from a simple, fill-in-the-blank form ... and then auto format and output the correct G code.

NO MORE TYPOS ... NO MORE MISSED OR MISPLACED CODE !!!

Why is KipwarePA® different than a G Code "Wizard" :
  1. KipwarePA® can create G code programs for BOTH milling and turning.
  2. KipwarePA® outputs G code compatible with Fanuc, Okuma, Haas, Mach3, Yasnac and Siemens CNC controls.
  3. KipwarePA® includes a full, G code specific Editor ... users can create progranms from scratch either  through KipwarePA® or in the Editor directly ... and users can import and edit ANY G code program file.
  4. KipwarePA® contains a full, toolpath plotter that can plot any G code program ... either milling or turning ... whether it was created with KipwarePA® or not.
  5. KipwarePA® contains a full, RS-232 serial communications package.
Check out all the details in the KipwarePA® Presentation Video
